The Immigration Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) relocates its headquarters to Tseung Kwan O on June 11, 2024, in a move aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
The new headquarters features advanced self-service system, including 44 Personal Documentation Submission Stations and 10 Personal Documentation Collection Stations, supplied by EMPTECH in collaboration with partner, allowing citizens to complete the process of applying or renewing their ID cards and passports in a self-service manner, and this upgrade will also enable citizens to collect their new documents from self-service kiosks, with service available 24/7.
Enhancing Accessibility in a Bustling Metropolis
With nearly 7.5 million people, Hong Kong is an international metropolis where people live in a particularly busy and fast-paced work environment.
With the deployment of the smart self-service documentation application and collection kiosks enables citizens of Hong Kong to easily apply for or collect identity documents in an one-stop, full self-service process, enhancing their experience in accessing government public services.
The streamlined process involves filling out forms, taking photos, and making payments, and citizens can access these services outside regular working hours, reducing workflow and burden while improving time efficiency.
By adding more self-service stations, the capacity for processing identity document applications will increase, reducing waiting times and providing citizens a more convenient option.
With the customer satisfaction from delivering hundreds of self-service eID registration and collection kiosks to ImmD in 2019, EMPTECH is proud to support the ImmD again with our latest self-service biometric registration kiosks and dispensing kiosks, heralding a new dawn of ease and accessibility for the citizen of Hong Kong.
