The Summit brought together leaders from the China Electronics Standardization Institute, Ecma International, UnionPay, Huawei, and other key industry players to discuss the future of contactless and near-field interaction technologies for smart transportation and payment systems.

CHENG Liang, Deputy General Manager of EMPTECH’s Smart Transportation Solutions Division, delivered a keynote speech titled “From ‘Card’ to Seamless: The Leap in Smart Transportation Experience.” The iTAP protocol, an international standard specifically designed for high-frequency near-field interaction scenarios, has successfully addressed the critical challenges of transaction speed, compatibility, and security in contactless payments.
With EMPTECH now supporting the iTAP protocol across its full range of terminals, passengers can make smart transportation payments with a single gesture—using transit cards, QR codes, biometric authentication, or major international bank cards. This breakthrough enables EMPTECH to deliver a safer, faster, and more convenient seamless smart transportation experience in public transit and other transportation scenarios worldwide.
This next-generation near-field interaction innovation focuses on deeply integrating a seamless passenger experience with full interoperability across devices and scenarios, all built on a highly secure foundation. It aims not only to break down device, brand, and scenario barriers—enabling contactless activation and instant, plug-and-play use—but also to reinforce the security of sensitive operations such as payments and identity authentication. At the same time, it supports multi-terminal software upgrades, helping operators reduce deployment costs.
Collaborating with Partners to Build the New iTAP Ecosystem
In its ecosystem development efforts, EMPTECH will leverage its technological expertise in smart transportation and trusted identity technologies to collaborate with partners across three key areas:
1.Co-developing standardized testing systems to promote cross-terminal and cross-scenario interoperability.
