On Jan 28th 2019, the minibus operator announced that residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region could experience paying minibus fares through the QR code of AlipayHK e-wallet, and this was the first-ever mobile payment launched in the bus in Hong Kong.

EMPTECH teamed up with AlipayHK to provide the solution called EasyGo. The fare payment terminal from EMPTECH supports the QR Code fare payment solution for transportation, which enable a payment process in 0.3 seconds and is the first to adopt both dual offline solution and a Travel-then-Pay scheme. Users can still pay with the e-wallet even when network is unstable or balance is insufficient.

This first-ever mobile payment in minibus is a big step forward of Hong Kong in Smart City development, which will be a trend in transportation to facilitate daily life for Hong Kong citizens.
